What Meta AI does today
As of October 2026, WhatsApp can summarise unread messages with Meta AI. In April 2026 WhatsApp was reported testing a summary of unread messages across several chats at once.
It lives inside WhatsApp and stays there: it cannot be called by your own agent, cannot act across your other tools, and has no API.
Where Meta AI is the better choice
- Free and built in. There is nothing to sign up for or connect.
- Official. It is part of WhatsApp, so there is no question about terms.
- Enough for a quick catch-up on one chat you are about to open anyway.
- Nothing leaves WhatsApp for a third-party service.
Where Circles is the better choice
